Welcome Back!

After such a long hiatus I think I’m never ever going to find a way to maintain a blog again. My last post here was more than a year ago, and that was when I PROMISED myself that I’d be updating constantly during internship. I even had my blog transferred here at WordPress from blogger in the hopes that a change in atmosphere would inspire me to write more. Boooo to me and my toxicity — or lack thereof? I mean PGH Internship was really hard, doing things you don’t really have to do but you need to do it since there’s no one else but you. BUT it wasn’t as hard as I expected it to be. In fact, I even enjoyed most parts of it! I think it was the best year out of my 7 years in med school! I had free time to do whatever I wanted, like travel, go to the beach, photography, watch movies and TV series, and blogging was not at the top of my list.

A little fast-forward to June 12, 2010. Aside from being the Philippines’ Independence Day, today is my 12th day of reviewing for the boards! In my nearly two weeks of easy-reading review, I covered much of Biochemistry, Microbiology and currently finishing up Physiology! I need to start on the HARD subjects like Patho and Pharma and Anatomy next week so I can finish my first reading by the end of June! I hope I do keep my schedule intact!

My usual day starts at around 8 or 9AM when Maan starts to wake me up y calling me constantly on my CP. Hehe. I eventually (and finally!) get out of bed and start to study (read, hilight and write notes on my review books) until lunch. I sometimes eat a heavy BRUNCH first, then skip lunch all together (my usual routine is going to Jollibee Faura to eat my favorite Tapa meal!). Maan and I then study together after lunch until we go to their place before dinner where her mom prepares a sumptuous meal for all of us! (Thank you!) After dinner we study at home or at our secret coffee shop somewhere in Malate (hehe, maingay kasi sa iba, dun sa secret place namin tahimik) or go to Starbucks UN or Coffee Bean Rob. Sometimes, pag kaya pa, I extend my studying hours until 2-3AM pero pag masakit na ulo ko from information overload, I stop and sleep.

The next day, I find out WALA NA AKONG MAALALA SA MGA INARAL KO KAHAPON.

One word: PATAY!

I hope retention does really kick in ASAP! Some say you can’t really test that you’ve retained much until the boards! Hay…good luck talaga.

I started blogging again so I can vent feelings, frustrations and share experiences during my board review. Promise, nakakabaliw talagang mag-aral 16 hours a day! I need a break from all the books, pens and hilighters. I hope this does good. :-)

Later I’ll be witnessing Tina Tan & Doc Dom Cariaga’s wedding! Tina is a great friend of mine since our Intarmed days. Grabe, ikakasal na siya! Advanced congratulations Tina! =)

Gusto ko din ibalik ang tradition ko of POP (a.k.a. Photo of the Post) where I get to post a picture everytime I post something here. Hehe. Here it is:

This was our very recent, ONCE IN A LIFETIME, experience at Amanpulo Resort, Pamalican Island, Palawan! As I stated on the description of my facebook album:

The greatest way to celebrate two things: 1) finishing 7 years of med school, and 2) 6 years of love!

Maan and I were very fortunate to “hitch” with the Andres Soriano Foundation in their annual medical mission at the Quiniluban group of islands near Cuyo, Palawan. In return of our free consultations and service, we were pampered, treated and got to stay for 5 days at the very exclusive Amanpulo Resort in Pamalican Island! To maintain its exclusivity, you need a private jet to get there! Sosyal kung sosyal, hehe, and we got there for free! =)

Probably the best beach I’ve ever been to, the sand is even whiter and finer than in Boracay! Service is more than excellent! And the views? Mapapa-nganga ka na lang sa ganda. Truly breathtaking!

Rald, signing out!

New Year, New Blog

As the new year starts, (and as blogger launches its new format), I shall have my new version of T&B template done. Hehe.

This, however, will STILL only be a temporary thing since I STILL don’t have time to blog that often since I STILL have 3 more months until I finish my 2nd year of med school.

I just had to try out the NEW blogger format which I now find easier than before. It now allows for drag-drop template tweaking, labels for filing your posts, more stable publishing (no more I-lost-my-10-paragraph-long-blog-post-because-of-blogger’s-effin’-downtime!), and easier comments moderation. It’s more user-friendly and techno-bobo friendly, especially for the ones who are just starting to blog.

But still, nothing beats MULTIPLY for the all-in-one package: PHOTOS, BLOG, MUSIC, VIDEOS, LINKS, EVENTS & the NETWORK you’re building. Hehe.

I miss blogging. I miss writing every freaking event that happens in my freaking life. I miss posting pictures, I miss tweaking my page, thinking about my next template, visualizing what Toxicity & Beyond version 4.0 would be like. I miss being fragmented and post all my thoughts in bulleted form so that I would remember each of them when I get back to my post.

I used to blog everyday, looking forward to coming home from school, connecting to the internet (then using my blasted dial-up) and writing about the book I read, the chismis my friend told me, where Maan & I dated, what movie I watched, what concert rocked, what happened to our school project, etc etc etc…

Those were the good ol’ days…

But is it just me? Or is the entire blogscene slowly giving up? (Or growing up?) When I started blogging 2 years ago (April 2004, out of boredom from Summer vacation), everything in the blogsphere was UP! Way UP! Blogging in the Philippines was just starting and I remember everyone still had a livejournal then (including me), but eventually I got a Blogger account since it let me change the HTML more freely. It was in no time that I egged my intarmed classmates in blogging also, hehe. They made their own blogs with me helping setting them up. We made a class blog, where we ranted about our teachers, exams etc. Even my highschool classmates followed suit. Blogging became a trend, and almost everyone I knew had one.

I began to know more people through blogs, hopping along the links of my friends, reading my friends’ friend’s blog, and then hopping to their friends’ blog. I began to know people only through the net, and later meeting them on the real world as “the person who wrote about __(put subject here)__”

When med school came, my net time began to reach a nadir. With that, my blogging time also decreased updating almost only twice a month, which became only twice a semester. By that time, I only wrote when I really needed to write something, AND when I have the time. That moment when you have both of that (need to write + time) doesn’t come often when you’re in med school. You’re almost always preoccupied with your requirements, and confined to writing case summaries, abstracts, and transcriptions. Your vocabulary shrinks to just a few laymen words: “The patient is __(initials)__ a _(age)_ year old _(sex)_ from __(place)___ who presents with __(symptom)__

But when times came that I do have time to spare for internet, (i.e. tabbing a page aside from where I’m researching), and visit blogs which I regularly visit then, they’re all like mine…NOT UPDATED. Even until now, as I check my links in the Blogista section (look at the sidebar), more often than not, most of these blogs have been updated last 2005 pa. I see more action in livejournal or in multiply. But these bloggers, my contemporaries in the blogsphere, have also stopped to blog.

Have we all been so busy? Or are we just growing up?

Is blogging just a phase in our life? that when more important things come up, it’s easy to just give it up.

I don’t know if there are still people who are as die-hard bloggers as we were before. I haven’t been blog-hopping lately…but I hope all my blog friends do come back and enjoy the good ol’ days!

Happy New Year everyone!

Nagbabalik

Ako’y nagbabalik. :D

gah…

only 10 days left until THE DAY.

shit.

I’m turning 20.

two decades man!!!

two effin’ decades of my uber-exciting life…

:]

This year, I’m not celebrating my birthday like I used to. I won’t be
throwing a HUMONGOUS party anymore, nor will I treat my friends to a
pizza-slash-resto…instead, I’ll be playing volleyball at De La Salle Zobel for
the inter-medschool sports competition: Palarong Med. Sheeeessh.

Well, even then…I have a major exam the Monday after my birthday so I
won’t be able to “celebrate” in the weekend…

Oh gerald, HAPPY BIRTHDAY talaga…sana Happy ka. :

*to put up a wish list or not to put up a wishlist…that is the question*

Anlabo no?

Oh demn…I miss blogging. :D

Blak en Wayt

Bagong taong pang-akademiko, dapat bagong lay-out…

Hehehe.

Parang ganito. :) Hehehe.

:) Hehehe.

+++

Swimming daw, plus inuman at sayahan. Ayus!

+++

Alam niyo ba yung Amazing Race ng Penshoppe? hehe. Hinatak ako ni Bill para sumali doon. Napili kami bilang contestants at bukas na yung race! Hehehe. WAHAHAHA! goodluck!

live nga pala yun na i-tetelecast sa radyo sa CAMPUS RADIO WLSFM 97.1, 1pm ang simula kaya kung gusto nyong makinig, just tune in! hehehe. :D

+++

Dami kong kwento sa Cagayan de Oro! SAYA dun! tsaka na. Pati yung kwento sa Bora! Hehehe.

Yeyeyeye! You rak!!!

Yun lang! Sige!

Haberday Blog!!!

BY THE WAY…

I still haven’t given the most important thing, the reason why I’m writing this now, its necessary BLOGSPACE for its birthday…

WHATELSE?

(BELATED) HAAAAPPPYYY 1st BIRTHHHDAAYYYY BLOG!!!

Yey!

The first post in my blog was written in April 10, 2004, so I guess April 10 is its birthday, technically. Ohwell…I’m 6 days late… :]

I blogged everyday, as in every single day, last year (until about October I think). So I suppose I can simply recall what happened exactly a year ago until October 2005. Nice. :)

Wahahaha. Yun lang. :D Yay! Isang taon na akong BLOGGER!

AYUS!
